Fraudster steals almost 140,000 rubles from Zarechny elderly woman by posing as CMO

Penza, 3 May 2016. PenzaNews. A fraudster posing as a chief medical officer of a hospital deceived an 80-year-old woman living in Zarechny of the Penza region to transfer a big sum of money to people of his discretion via a zero-address technique.

The unidentified person guided the elderly woman into thinking that she has a serious disease, and told her the necessary medical treatment requires money urgently, the press service of the regional Ministry of the Interior informed PenzaNews.

“Following the lawbreaker’s instructions, the elderly woman sent 136,000 rubles to two people via express transfers,” they said.

The police are currently holding an investigation to identify the culprits, they clarified.
