Penza, 4 June 2016. PenzaNews. A fraudster stole over 51,000 rubles from the banking card of a 64-year-old Penza woman by posing as her acquaintance.

“According to the woman, she received a message from the account of her acquaintance in the Odnoklassniki social network with an offer to register in a charity campaign of a known bank and receive a present of 2,000 rubles. During the dialogue that ensued, she was asked to divulge her banking card credentials and the passwords she has been receiving via text messages,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews.

After giving away the information, the elderly woman received six messages describing transfers to and from her account.

“Afterward, she found out that the funds were withdrawn from three of her bank founds. She told the police officers that she was informed of such fraud schemes,” they added.

An investigation of the fraud case is underway, the police clarified.
