Penza, 3 July 2014. PenzaNews. Artistic director of Penza regional Drama Theater named after A. Lunacharsky Sergei Kazakov summed up the results of the season during a press conference on Thursday, July 3. According to him, the passing theatrical season was active and productive.

“We had nine productions, including small and large stages, for both adults and children. There were some experiments. For example, the project “From under the pen” in which a new piece of Yuri Polyakov “Like gods” was staged for the first time in Russia. In addition, the audience was pleased to see “The Seagull” — it is our pride, the flagship of our theater, because the performance is really very good and talented,” Sergei Kazakov said.

According to him, not all the performances were enthusiastically received by the public, but the theater group did not try to achieve that.

“This is the — when there are disputes. We are working in order to excite the public somehow. If you do not develop — you are not noticed, and we evolve, and our work is evaluated,” the artistic director pointed out.

Sergei Kazakov also reported that during the season, the theater visited the All-Russian theater festivals in Kaluga, Belgorod, Tambov, Orenburg, visited Hungary and Israel, and also won three grants, one of which was received for the performance “Is it easy to get married in Penza?”

In general, Sergei Kazakov said that the theater's repertoire has more classics, on the background of which contemporary drama stands out more clearly.
