222nd theatrical season finishes in Penza

Penza, 6 July 2015. PenzaNews. A play “The Sevastopol Waltz” held on Sunday, July 5, has finished the 222nd season of the Penza Lunacharsky Drama Theater. The showing itself was preceded by a speech from Sergei Kazakov, artistic director of the theater, who thanked the audience for remaining true to them.

“Thank you very much for this season. The times are tough, there’s crisis in the country, we feel it, you feel it, but the theater still lives, works, and we released eight premieres this month in spite of all, just because we love you this much. You give us the strength, the energy, the love, and I hope we return it in kind. We love you, and we want you to always be with us,” he said.

Among the people present at the final play of the season was Grigory Zaslavsky, theater critic, deputy head of Culture column of Nezavisimaya Gazeta, radio observer at Vesti FM, member of the Civil Council to the Russian Ministry of Culture, member of the Theater Workers Union of Russia board on critic and theater research.

After the curtains call, he met and talked to the actors involved in the showing.

The new theatrical season will open on September 8 with “The Sevastopol Waltz.”

The first premiere of the 223rd season in October is expected to be the play “The Last Victim” after A.N. Ostrovsky – a classic comedy of love and crime directed by the Distinguished Artist of Russia Vasily Konopatin, says the website of the drama theater.
