Penza, 13 May 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza region will be unveiling a memorial plaque to Ivan Mozzhukhin, renown silent film actor born in the region, on Thursday, May 19.

The unveiling ceremony will be held in Penza on Volodarskovo street, 5, by the city’s Education Department. The building in question had formerly served as the facilities for the Penza men’s gymnasium, where Ivan Mozzhukhin had studied between 1899 and 1907.

“The plaque is a corner high relief that combines inscription and imagery. The memorial plaque was made by Valery Kuznetsov – sculptor, Distinguished Artist of Russia, author of a series of notable landmarks in Penza, such as the Vasily Klyuchevsky monument and the Lady With The Dog, the ‘Russian Proverb’ Chest and The Jeweler monuments,” the press service of the Penza region government informed PenzaNews.
