Penza, 29 July 2014. PenzaNews. Farmers of the Penza region threshed 261 thousand tons of grain.

“Grains and legumes harvested on the area of 89.2 thousand ha, and 87.3 thousand ha are threshed,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The ministry added that the average yield for cereals and legumes amounted at 30 quintals per hectare.

“The Penza region continues to stay in the lead in the Volga Federal District in these activities. The region is ahead of Mari El, where the average yield is 28.9 quintals per hectare, and the Ulyanovsk region with 25.7 quintals per hectare. The average yield of grain and leguminous crops in the Volga Federal District is 21.2 quintals per hectare,” the ministry of agriculture of the region presented the data.

The press service added that the total amount of threshed grain in bunker weight in Russia is 43.6 million tons with 34.4 quintals per hectare.
