Penza, 31 December 2014. PenzaNews. JSC “Mobile TeleSystems” has reported a closure of a deal between its branch “Telecom Povolzhye” and “SMARTS.” The former acquired CJSC “Penza-GSM,” CJSC “SMARTS-Ivanovo” and CJSC “SMARTS-Ufa” for a total of 3.13 billion rubles including IOUs.

“This purchase will help MTS strengthen its position in the republic of Bashkortostan and expand presence in the Penza and Ivanovo regions. MTS will also get additional frequencies in 900 and 1800 MHz. We will be able to employ the second frequency to develop our LTE communications and provide high-speed Internet access to our customers. MTS will also benefit from the synergy of integrated companies,” Andrei Dubovskov, president of MTS Group, commented on the deal.

As MTS press service told PenzaNews agency, CJSC “Penza-GSM” owns a 14.8 MHz band in 1800 MHz frequency line and a 6.2 MHz band in 900 MHz line. CJSC “SMARTS-Ivanovo” owns a 14.2 MHz band in the higher frequency and 10 MHz in the lower frequency. CJSC “SMARTS-Ufa” owns 14.6 MHz in the higher frequency.
