Penza, 2 May 2015. PenzaNews. The acting governor Mikhail Kosoy approved the plan and the program of perspective electricity network development in the Penza region for the years of 2016-2020 on Friday, April 30.

The signed document includes such points as minutia and current issues of the electricity network in the Penza region territory.

According to available data, the region imports more energy than it exports, and receives it through 110, 220 and 500 kV lines from the Saratov and Ulyanovsk regions, and acts as a transit energy supplier to Mordovia.

The energy network of the Penza region has several issues. Many network objects and nodes are highly worn-down and require repair. Connecting new users to the network requires certain mid-range procedures carried out on several nodes. The overall network management system is in need of reconstruction and upgrade. A noticeable portion of the currently used equipment is of the oil-filled variety and with great wear levels, thus decreasing its reliability. Several 100-35 kV electrical substations are not grounded against electrical arcs on 6-10 kV high voltage units.

Following the long-term social and economic development strategy of the Penza region until 2021, the regional energy policy aims to provide sustainable supply of electricity to citizens, business and budget institutions with an outlook towards their prospective development and implementation of new electricity programs.

The plan and the program of perspective electricity network development in the Penza region for the years of 2016-2020 are available on the website of the regional Department on Tariff Regulation and Energy Conservation.
