Deputy sentenced to two years of imprisonment for tree felling worth of 14 million rubles in Penza region

Penza, 16 April 2014. PenzaNews. The deputy of local government committee of Yursovsky village council of Zemetchinsky arwa, the Penza region of the fourth convocation was found guilty of illegal felling of forest on a large scale.

Occupying the position of the director of the main management department “Yursovskoe forestry” and being the founder of LLC “Yursovskoe forestry,” he was aware that felling of forest owned by the state or municipality was carried out by an organization that won the respective tender.

According to the investigation, he also knew that forest located on the territory of the main management department “Yursovskoe forestry” will be included in the state contract for 2013.

“Violating the law without issuing permits, the man instructed the workers of LLC “Yursovskoe forestry” to start felling the trees. As a result of the criminal actions of the convicted person, over 2,700 cubic meters of coniferous and hardwood were cut down, which amounted to over 14-million-ruble material damage of the state. And it should be noted, that the state contract was won by a different legal entity,” the Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Penza, Media relations, Lyudmila Fomina told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She added that this criminal case was initiated based on the evidence collected by Russian FSB department in the Penza region.

“The man was sentenced to two years of imprisonment to be served in the colony, and the deprivation of the right to hold heading positions for two years. Also, he is obliged to repay the damage in the amount of over 14 million rubles. The sentence has not entered into force yet and may be appealed within the statutory period,” the agency interlocutor noted.
