Penza drug traffickers' group arrest details made public

Penza, 21 July 2014. PenzaNews. Details of the arrest in Penza group of drug traffickers selling spice over the Internet were made public on Monday, July 21.

As the Chief Expert of Information and Public Relations Group of Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation Elena Samorukova told news agency “PenzaNews,” the counter-criminal operation against two citizens was held on June 25.

“Two young men who moved to the Penza region from Zemetchinsky area were arrested in a rented apartment. To get there, the drug control officers had to move in not only by stairs, but also from above: the officers used reinforced cables to descend from the roof of a 10-flat building to the sixth floor,” the agency interlocutor explained.

She added that during the search of the apartment, the police found the reagent and the mixture required to make spice, gripper-bags for drug packaging, electronic scales and a computer with the criminals’ client base.

“The third member of the criminal group, the dealer, was arrested on the same day. The officers found about 20 gripper-bags with the drug, ready to be sold, in his home,” the agency interlocutor said.

Elena Samorukova clarified that this criminal case was instituted under Art. 228 of the Criminal Code “Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, manufacturing and processing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues, as well as the illegal acquisition, storage, transportation of plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, or parts thereof containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances.”

“One of the dealers was placed in a detention center, and the two other men are under house arrest. Young people can spend up to 20 years in prison,” Elena Samorukova said.
