Penza, 7 October 2014. PenzaNews. Three Penza penal colony prisoners are suspected of attempting to establish a drug trade channel.

“Using their criminal connections, they got in touch with the representatives of a Tajik drug gang in Moscow and agreed on purchasing a large batch of high-quality heroin. The intermediate in the criminal chain was a Penza region resident who had been temporarily residing in the Moscow Area working on one of the construction sites of the capital. He knew the drug deal orchestrators in Penza and, for a reward, agreed to help them smuggle drugs from Moscow to Samara, where heroin was supposed to be put on sale,” Elena Samorukova, Chief Expert of Information and Public Relations Group of Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation, told PenzaNews agency.

She said that the man hid 20 drug bundles for a total of over 100 grams in a coffee jar.

“For conspiracy, he packed the jar with other food in a package and sent it to Samara via Russian Post. However, the heroin supply chain was blocked during a joint operational-search campaign of regional offices of FSIN and Federal Drug Control Service,” the agency interlocutor said.

Elena Samorukova explained that the drug control service dog found the parcel of heroin among many others in one of the post offices.

“The case is under investigation. All people involved in the crime were identified and arrested,” she clarified.
