“Among the sentenced 17 took bribes, 19 engaged in fraud, 10 appropriated entrusted funds, 43 forged official documents, and 18 gave bribes. Moreover, nine were sentenced for influence peddling, four for misusing their position, two for authority abuse in commercial institutions, one for rank abuse and one for forging the evidence,” the Senior Assistant Attorney of the Penza region Yuliya Makarova told PenzaNews agency.

She added that among the sentenced are two regional Federal Correctional Service workers, five police officers, one Federal Bailiff Service official, nine medical workers, four teachers and professors, six village council administration heads and five regional deputees.

“Graft is still not rare among the officials who seek to improve their lives or solve a question without adhering to the law,” the agency interlocutor remarked.
