Nigerian student in Penza hospitalized with suspected Ebola case

Penza, 28 October 2014. PenzaNews. A young adult who arrived to Penza from Nigeria to study at the university was transferred to the special medical care center with a suspected case of Ebola, said Sergey Rybalkin, the chief medical officer of the medical care center, during a press conference on Tuesday, October 28.

According to him, the medical specialists are conducting all the necessary preventive measures and plan to take several lab tests.
As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, the special medical care center was chosen for hospitalization of all patients with suspected Ebola cases.
Last Thursday, October 23, the medical workers of the region took part in an Ebola preparedness drill in the Burdenko clinical hospital. The event involved doctors and nurses from various locations, including Filatova children’s hospital and Zakharyina emergency medical hospital.
As Valentina Kalinkina, chief epidemiologist of the region, told the press after the preparedness drill, the region has all the means necessary to hospitalize the Ebola patients and contain the spread of infection.
