Penza homeless who spent over 20 years in colonies convicted of rape

Penza, 25 November 2014. PenzaNews. A 48-year-old homeless man who spent over 20 years in prison was convicted of rape and theft committed on the territory of the Penza region.

“Investigation and the court found that in Michurina horticultural society, the attacker under fraudulent pretenses brought a previously familiar 35-year-old woman into a country house while intoxicated on the night of May 19, 2014. Then he raped the victim. Woman's call for help was heard by her husband, who was able to get into the house with the police. The convict saw the policemen, grabbed an axe and started threatening him,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Penza, told PenzaNews agency.

She added that the man is also convicted of a series of thefts from country houses, where he usually stole tools and equipment.

“The court sentenced him to 7 years of imprisonment in the colony,” the agency interlocutor explained.
