Rally against State Duma deputy Anton Ishchenko in Penza city center

Penza, 17 September 2014. PenzaNews. Four young women and three young men held a rally against the Russian State Duma deputy from the Liberal Democratic Party Anton Ishchenko, who lost the election to the City Duma in district No. 7 gaining just over 2% of the vote, near the “Rostok” monument.

Young people were holding banners reading: “Penza does not need Ishchenko,” “Kicked from Saratov — get out of Penza,” “Ishchenko ruined LDPR! Go away,” “Ishchenko — the shame of the Liberal Democratic Party,” and others.

Along with their accusations, the activists demanded that the LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky himself, along with the Penza region governor Vasily Bochkarev, “deal with” Anton Ishchenko.

News agency PenzaNews does not have any information on whether the rally in the center of Penza was sanctioned by the authorities, and who was its organizer.

As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, the elections to Penza City Duma took place on Sunday, September 14.
According to the final results, the United Russia party won the campaign, getting 32 seats out of 35.

The Communist Party won in the 1th and 11th districts, represented by Oleg Shalyalin and Alexander Trutnev respectively. A self-nominee and a member of the Liberal Democratic Party Zhigansha Tuktarov won in in the 5th district.

The average voter turnout in the city amounted to 23.32%.

On Monday, September 15, the electoral commission of Penza sent a claim to the court about partial vote result cancellation in district No.7, questioning the validity of the ballots.

Due to the aforementioned claim, the first organizational session of Penza City Duma of the sixth convocation, scheduled for Friday, September 19, has been postponed for an indefinite term.
