The first point in the meeting agenda was about the party’s involvement in the election.

In an opening word, Georgy Kamnev, regional Legislative Assembly deputy, first secretary of the CPRF regional committee, said the audience includes such members as Natalya Bolshakova, a tie-resolving voting member of the Penza region election committee, and Olga Medvedeva, head of the NGO department of the regional department of the Ministry of Justice.

He briefly spoke of his participation in the CPRF Central Committee meeting on youth issues and explained the key conclusions after the event, such as accelerating work online, including social networking.

Moving on to the main topic of the event, Georgy Kamnev stressed that the Communist Party must take part in the Penza region gubernatorial election.

“Formally, we are the second biggest party in the country, but I fully believe we are the first in our content. In particular, through the ideas we make, and I think there is no need to discuss the correctness of these ideas,” he said.

The first secretary of the CPRF regional committee stressed that the Communist Party will go to election “not just for participation.”

“Regardless of anybody else’s opinion, we always go to elections aiming for the victory,” the Legislative Assembly deputy added.

As a result, the delegates spoke in favor of the party’s involvement in the gubernatorial election.

After that, the chairman of the Penza regional CPRF committee on staff Ninel Novoseltseva informed the audience that a total of two candidates were promoted for the event: Nikolai Myalkin, a non-affiliated citizen of the Zemetchino area, and Vladimir Simagin, State Duma deputy, second secretary of the Communist Party regional branch.

“We unanimously concluded to approve Vladimir Simagin and ask the regional branch to introduce his promotion as the candidate for the 2015 gubernatorial election in the Penza region,” she said.

In his turn, Georgy Kamnev announced a CPRF regional office bureau where both candidates held debates with the party members.

“As a result, we learned that Nikolai Nikolaevich Myalkin needs more social work, so we decided to choose Vladimir Simagin for the vote,” he said.

Georgy Kamnev thanked those who had supported his candidacy, and jested he is too young for a governor.

“Of course my political experience pales to that of Vladimir Alexandrovich Simagin. So I always considered him to be our candidate,” he added.

Following a discussion, the microphone was given to Vladimir Simagin, who said the election campaign was a difficult decision for him that took much time.

According to the State Duma member, he understands the responsibility but thinks the CPRF has other worthy candidates akin to Georgy Kamnev.

In his speech, Vladimir Simagin discussed the main points of his biography.

“You frequently ask me: ‘Won’t I repeat the fate of those who went to the other side of the politics?’ I tell you: I have been with you for 23 years and withstood extreme political pressure. And I do not intend to go away at all either. […] I’d like to ask you to believe me as I will not let you down. The election campaign ahead of us is going to be tough. I am likely to make mistakes – correct me. I still have a lot to do to reach the level of Boris Fedorovich Zubkov and Victor Ivanovich Ilyukhin,” the official said.

His speech preceded the voting break.

Following the protocol of the election committee presided by Tatyana Udalova under the public support, the voting had a maximum of 66 voting ballots, one for each delegate, but only 59 were used, one for each present.

Vladimir Simagin received unanimous approval.

He concluded the meeting by thanking his party allies for their trust.
