Penza, 27 July 2015. PenzaNews. Georgy Kamnev, leader of the Penza branch of the Communist Party, deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly, claimed he is by no means surprised by the critique of Andrei Sorokin, the author of an online petition to the mayor Yuri Krivov against the move of the Joseph Stalin Monument. The CPRF representative made his comment shortly after he told PenzaNews agency that such an online petition will be completely ineffective.

“After I read this ‘magnum opus,’ I saw what kind of a person this Andrei Sorokin is, why he created this petition, what he seeks and why he does that,” the speaker said.

He also expressed his belief that “others must have realized that as well.”

According to the CPRF official, Andrei Sorokin who claims he seeks no attention to his figure actually tries to achieve exactly that, while “an independent media – ‘PenzaNews’ agency – recklessly gives him an opportunity to achieve this task.”

“The rhetoric and the critique from the name of Andrei Sorokin is very similar to that the Communists are used to hear from the authorities. Only it seems somewhat credible when spoken by the authorities, and even has an air of truthiness when spread by ‘the right media.’ However, this case is just laughable, and there is no reason to call this action of this likely lost young man a ‘civil act’,” Georgy Kamnev added.

He also stressed he would not be surprised if Andrei Sorokin’s situation “will in mere minutes attracts support of the liberal clique” in the nearest future.

“The will be nothing to comment on, then – there won’t be any need for words on who orchestrates this ensemble,” the leader of the Penza Communists said.

He also suggested Andrei Sorokin to not take offense of the situation and remain optimistic about the future, as “the bright future of Communism will surely come.”

“Only don’t forget to choose the right friends on your way. Then it’ll be all right,” Georgy Kamnev advised.

As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, the Joseph Stalin monument was opened in Penza on July 15, 2011, in the CPRF regional committee building on Darvina proyezd.

The monument was ordered by German Karpov and cast in South Ossetia. The members and followers of CPRF in the Penza region gathered some 100,000 rubles for its creation, while the regional CPRF branch took the expenses related to improvement of the nearby plot of land and the installation of the monument.

In July 2015, the Communist party members announced their plans to move the Joseph Stalin monument to the new party office branch building on Kirova street, 24B.
