Penza, 15 August 2015. PenzaNews. The new stage of the election campaign for governor of the Penza region — the campaign in the media — was launched on Saturday, August 15. From that day the law allows candidates to present their campaign materials and speeches to wide audience of voters on the TV and radio, in the papaers and online.

Campaign materials can be placed only in those media that published the information on the amount and other terms of payment of airtime and print space, and notified the election commission.

Campaigning in the media is carried out at the expense of the election funds of candidates.

Russian legislation provides free space and airtime for campaign materials in the state and municipal media. The candidates have already taken the draw.

Election campaigning of all types ceases at midnight September 12, 2015 — at midnight one day before the voting day. Saturday, September 12, this year will be the so-called “day of silence.” Election campaigning on this day and on the voting day is prohibited by law.

As PenzaNews reported earlier, the Penza gubernatorial elections, as well as by-elections of deputies to the representative bodies of local self-government in a number of municipalities will be held on September 13.

The officially registered candidates for the position of the governor of the Penza region are five people: Vladimir Simagin (the Communist Party), Zhigansha Tuktarov (LDPR), Ivan Belozertsev (United Russia), Gennady Eroshin (A Just Russia), and Vladimir Popkov (Rodina – Mitherland-National Patriotic Union).
