Penza, 12 November 2015. PenzaNews. The arrest of Alexei Dodonov, deputy administration head of Kusnetsk city in the Penza region, who is accused of taking a large-scale bribe from a local individual businessman, was a logical outcome with apparent previous signs pointing towards it, the mayor of Kuznetsk Sergei Zlatogorsky, currently still on vacation in spite of the incident, told PenzaNews agency.

“Of course, the event itself is unpleasant,” he said.

He explained that Alexei Dodonov was already in the process of being laid off, due to serious allegations against him.

“He was subjected to disciplinary punishment. I had a stern discussion with him before my vacation. I think there should be no issues here, as a person who lets something like that happen, even when he knows my attitude towards all that, is very unlikely to find any redemption or compassion,” Sergei Zlatogorsky said.

He added that his deputy has likely “succumbed to temptation,” and now “there is a black sheep in the flock to deal with.”

According to the mayor of Kuznetsk, he currently has no information pointing towards a chance of any possible persecution against other staff members of the city administration.

“I will be returning to work on Monday [November 16] and getting hands on with the situation,” the official clarified.
