First Penza public debate to be held next week

Penza, 26 August 2016. PenzaNews. The first public debate between the candidates for MPs the State Duma of Russia of the seventh convocation in the 146th single-mandate constituency will be held in Penza on Tuesday, August 30.

They are expected to be held in the Dzerzhinsky railway-men palace of culture. The event is scheduled for 19.00, free public entrance.
Their participation in the debate has already been confirmed by the candidates from the Communist Party and “The Just Russia” — Georgy Kamnev and Lyudmila Kolomytseva. It is possible that the representatives of other political parties will be present.
This type of public debate in Penza will be used for the first time. According to the organizers, the event, inviting the general public, is to contribute to the awakening of interest among voters for the elections, and will allow getting acquainted with the candidates, asking them questions, better understanding their positions on key issues.
As PenzaNews reported earlier, the idea of a public debate was suggested by the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, the first secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party Georgy Kamnev at a press conference on June 29. He called for an open dialogue with his political opponent in the 146th district Sergei Esyakov, the current Russian State Duma deputy from United Russia.
In early July, it was reported that Lyudmila Kolomytseva of “The Just Russia” accepted the call of the Communist. She said that she was ready to take part in a debate with her opponents in the election campaign to the State Duma.
Shortly after, it was announced that the first round of debates will be held on August 3, but later the date of the event was moved.
In addition, in late July, the first secretary of the city committee of the Communist Party of Penza Dmitry Filyaev invited his opponent in the 147th district Leonid Levin of “The Just Russia” to debate. According to the Communist, the Ural farmer Vasily Melnichenko of the Ecological Party “The Greens” is also ready to participate in the debate.
To date, the debate has not taken place yet.
