The opening ceremony held on Saturday, April 2, featured a performance of the Amator choir led by Vladimir Olkhov, which performed Orthodox Great Lent hymns and canticles.

The Archbishop Serafim of Penza and Nizhny Novgorod, the deputy chairman of the regional government Yuri Krivov, the head of the regional Department of Culture and Archive Tatyana Kurdova, the director of the Savitsky Picture Gallery Kirill Zastrozhny and other officials welcomed the people who came to the opening ceremony.

Each of them highlighted the importance of the new exhibition in their own way. Moreover, all placed emphasis on the unity over the idea to reconstruct the Spassky Cathedral, which the current exhibition supports.

As PenzaNews reported earlier, the exhibition will conclude on May 14 with a charity auction of nine paintings and drawings by Penza artists.

The money collected during the auction will be donated to complete the construction of the Spassky Cathedral.
