According to Andrei Dyachkov, head of the delivery of the bell to the Alexander Nevsky Monastery, the church-going bell is scheduled to be delivered to the destination next Monday, July 28.

“Its size is so great that it would require a separate bell tower,” he explained to reporters.

Andrei Dyachkov noted that bell “Alexander Nevsky” is made of high quality alloy of tin and copper and has a remarkably beautiful sound, rich in overtones.

During the bell presentation, the organizers also held a master class on the bell ringing, giving everyone an opportunity to try their hand.

The bell is planned to go through Ryazan, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Vologda, Cherepovets and Tikhvin.

The bell “Alexander Nevsky” was cast at 11.00 on April 29, 2014.

The church-going bell of Alexander Nevsky Monastery is decorated with seven icons: “Trinity” (Andrei Rublev), “Alexander Nevsky,” “Royal martyrs,” “Nikolaos the Wonderworker,” “Antony Leokhnovsky,” “Martyr Ludmila of Czech” and “The Holy Martyr Victor Damascus.”

It is presumed that the bell will be delivered to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra on the anniversary of the Battle of the Neva, on July 28. Its ascent to the south bell tower of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is scheduled for October 2014. Until that time, it will be located near the entrance to the cathedral for public viewing.
