“Tarkhany” became federal cultural heritage object

Penza, 28 July 2014. PenzaNews. Penza’s Tarkhany settlement became an object cultural heritage of federal importance, according to a decree signed by Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

According to the document, “Tarkhany” is now officially considered a “sightseeing attraction.” It also includes some border towns in the area, related to the life and work of Mikhail Lermotov, such as villages of Lermontovo, Apalikha, Verkhniye Polyany, Nizhniye Polyany, Alekseevka, Deryabikha and Podsot, as well as areas of natural landscape, groves Dolgaya, Dubki, Gremyachiy ravine and Lysaya Mountain.

In accordance with the legislation, the sites of cultural heritage have restrictions connected with their usage, as well as specific requirements for economical activity, engineering and construction.

It is expected that this decision will ensure the preservation, use, promotion and state protection of the object of cultural heritage “Tarkhany.”

“Tarkhany” is state Lermontov Museum, one of the most famous places in Russia associated with the name of the poet. Mikhail Lermontov spent his childhood here.

The estate is located in Belinsky area in the Penza region.

The museum-estate of V. Belinsky can be found to 17 km south-west.
