Penza, 22 August 2014. PenzaNews. Rostelecom completed a four-year communications infrastructure modernization program using FTTB (fiber to the building) technology in apartment buildings of suburban villages of Penza as a part of the project for the development of multi-service network.

All the settlements in question are located close to the regional center and are a part of the Penza area.

The new infrastructure connected 88 buildings in Beryozovaya, Lenino, Zasechnoe, Bogoslovka, Ermolovka, Salovka, Konstantinovka, Michurino, Voskresenovka, Bolshaya Elan, Nadezhdino, Staraya Kamenka villages and Leonidovka military town to the fiber optic network.

According to Lev Dyatlov, director of “Rostelecom” Penza department, the new fiber optic network extension will increase the Internet top connection speed up to 100 Mbit/s, which will enable the customers to comfortably browse traffic-heavy websites, watch videos and listen to music online, as well as use online state and banking services.

According to him, the apartment buildings residents can activate the “Interactive TV” function and watch over 200 TV channels in digital and HD-quality, as well as enjoy unique services such as “View management,” “Video rental,” “Karaoke” and “Parental Control.”

Lev Dyatlov said that broadband services in Penza area went online in 2010, when the first subscribers were connected to the optics in Zasechny — one of the largest suburban villages with many apartment buildings being constructed each year.

He noted that the residents of the new “Lukomorye” housing complex are already enjoying the modern telecommunications services.

“The construction of fiber-optic communication lines is one of the priorities for the company. Each year, we have been increasing the investments and expanding the network plan. During the four years of the project, over 35 hundred families residing in Penza area got a chance to use the full range of services which require high-bandwidth data connection,” the agency interlocutor said.

He added that the ADSL subscribers who live in the Penza area apartment buildings will be able to switch to the FTTB for free, and all the reconnection work will be carried out as soon as possible.
