Governmental commission to examine regional Ministry of Internal Affairs

Penza, 26 August 2014. PenzaNews. The Governmental Commission for crime prevention began conducting its operation program in the Penza region.

“This year, the Commission shall conduct routine checks in the regions of the Russian Federation. The Penza region became the sixth region for us. During a five-day visit, we will study the function process in the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, and in several other areas related to crime prevention,” said Alexander Boyko, deputy chief of the department of Russian Federation executive authorities interaction coordination in the field of crime prevention for UOPR GUOOOP MOI of Russia.

He also noted that the Government Commission was formed of federal experts of health, education and science ministries, as well as representatives of the Federal Drug Control Service, the Federal Service for Execution of Punishment and the Federal Migration Service.

As the press service of the government of the Penza region told news agency “PenzaNews,” the crime rate the region amounts at 570.4 crimes per 100 000 people, which is one of the lowest rates in the Volga Federal District, as well as in Russia as a whole.

“During the first seven months of 2014, the Penza region managed to reduce juvenile crime rate by 19%, the amount of robberies by 16%, and thefts by 16.9%,” the press service added.
