MTS improved mobile coverage in 100 Penza settlements

Penza, 18 September 2014. PenzaNews. MTS increased the number of 2G and 3G standard base stations in Penza and areas of the region by 15% since the beginning of 2014, which has greatly improved the coverage in 100 settlements of the region and increased the speed of mobile Internet by 33%, said the press service of the telecom operator to news agency “PenzaNews.”

“As a part of modernization program, MTS also built over 300 km of fiber-optic communication lines in the region,” said the company representative.

The press service spokesperson added that the operator continues to work on the implementation of DC-HSDPA+ technology.

Evgeny Galusko, director of MTS in the Ulyanovsk and Penza regions and the Republic of Mordovia, noted that one of the current criteria of socio-economic development of a society both in cities and villages is a working information infrastructure.

“High-quality mobile Internet connection are not just means of communication, but also signs of cultural and information society development, chances to get decent general and professional education, to broaden one’s horizons. That's why our goal is to give everyone an opportunity to make full use of the modern technologies anywhere in the region,” he stressed.

MTS continues to implement an ambitious program of building its own network infrastructure in the Penza region.

In 2014, active construction was carried out in Bashmakovsky, Bekovsky, Vadinsky, Zemetchinsky, Kuznetsky, Neverkinsky, Shemysheysky and other areas of the region. Since the beginning of 2013, MTS more than doubled the number of 2G/3G base stations in the region.

To date, the operator's network covers over 80% of the Penza region. Most of 3G base stations provide up to 42 Mbps.
