Penza, 1 October 2014. PenzaNews. A ceremony to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons was held in the center of culture and leisure in Penza on Wednesday, October 1.

Before the start of the official part, the guests were presented an exhibition of applied arts of veterans “Golden Autumn.”

In addition, there were organized expert consultations on health, pensions and social services.

Penza mayor Yuri Krivov addressed words of gratitude to the people of the older generation.

“I would like to express the hope that the generation that comes after us will be grateful. I wish you caring families, so that your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were here and could find an opportunity for self-realization in Penza,” he said.

Then mayor presented certificates for active participation in Penza public life to labor veterans Ravil Almakaev, Raisa Guryeva, Alexei Podlesny, Vladimir Popov and Galina Filippova.

Festive concert was opened by folk song “Voices of Russia,” the head of which is celebrated the 55th anniversary of creative activity.
