Penza region plans reforestation on over 1,000 hectares

Penza, 27 March 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region plans to reforest 1,238 hectares of land during the year of 2015.

“We will plant over 5 million saplings, 3 million of them on rented forest areas,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Forestry informed PenzaNews agency.

The state servants added that the Penza region is currently preparing for the spring season in the forests.

“To help snow thaw faster in animal reserves, we spread fragmented peat and ash, dug out vent holes, and loosened the surface. Also, we prepared snow piles by animal and forest reserves to use later for sapling storage. All the saplings are currently checked for fungus diseases,” the ministry clarified.
