Opening the official ceremony, Ivan Belozertsev pointed out that the celebration with the Orthodox Christian roots brought together Penza citizens of various religious confessions.

“Only through friendship and consensus will we be able to go against the challenges of the times. I think we should always remain unified, charged to solve the same issues: developing our villages, residential areas, towns, cities, areas, our region and Russia as a whole,” the regional head stressed.

His speech was followed by an award ceremony for the distinguished Penza citizens who received official certificates and letters of gratitude.

The “Masters’ Alley” in the park featured the works of the local craftsmen who arrived to Penza from all over the region with crafts, paintings, crystal glass gifts and baked goods.

The celebration also featured a sampling zone with Russian, Mordovia and Chuvash cuisine, while the whole celebration was based on traditional food of the feast – honey, apples and nuts.
