Penza, 23 April 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza region governor Ivan Belozertsev has headed the supervisory board at the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society.

The board has 15 members, including representatives of authorities, cultural and educational institutions, and top management of NCOs. One of the members of the regional RGS supervisory board is the Penza-born pilot and cosmonaut Alexander Samokutyaev.

The Russian Geographical Society, one of the eldest geographical societies of the world, was founded in 1845.

The supervisory board chairman of the Russian Geographical Society is the Russian President Vladimir Putin. The President of the RGS is the Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu.
