The new store occupies a total of 503 sq. meters of rented office space.

“This is the first time Rostelecom is cooperating with X5 Retail Group under the redevelopment agreement. The project aims to rent out the space freed after optimization and equipment modernization,” the director of the Penza branch for Rostelecom Lev Dyatlov told PenzaNews.

The location had previously served as ventilation facility for the now deprecated crossbar telephone system No. 64, he noted.

“The system had been replaced by new digital equipment several years ago as part of our modernization project. Digital telephone stations take little space, which allowed us to free up space and use it more effectively. The location that we now rent has a full range of telecom services available. Our cooperation agreements includes a secure IP-VPN channel for our renters,” he explained.

In March 2015, the federal store chain “Pyaterochka” signed an agreement with Rostelecom on establishment of long-term mutual cooperation and effective use of the telecom service provider’s real estate propery.

Under the agreement, Rostelecom will be offering “Pyaterochka” to purchase or rent a number of locations suitable for opening around 300 stores in several regions of Russia in 2015-2017.

This redevelopment program, which seeks to reconstruct the real estate locations to ensure their more effective use, encompasses most of the regions of presence for Rostelecom and “Pyaterochka.”

The newly-opened “Pyaterochka” store became its 62nd in the region, including 25 outlets in Penza.
