“Before the departure, the animal spent 30 days in quarantine, where it was monitored by the Penza region Veterinarian Department,” the public relations officer of the Rosselkhoznadzor department in Mordovia and the Penza region Larisa Yakushkina told PenzaNews.

The animal’s owner was consulted on the rights for transporting cats, required vaccinations and documents, and anti-parasite treatments.

“Savannah cats are the most unusual, large, rare and expensive domestic cat breed in the world, as the Penza region State Veterinarian Border Control and Transportation Department officials learned,” she pointed out.

The Savannah is a hybrid cat breed. It is a cross between a serval and a domestic cat.

A Savannah cat is large – they may get as much as 60 cm tall, and weigh up to 15 kg, with slim and tall build, longer neck and paws, big rounded ears, and thick spotted fur, as well as more developed intellect.

Savannah cats take around 3 years to mature to their adult size, and their variety of colors includes brown, chocolate, silver, marble, and cinnamon.

In 2015, the Savannah cat breed was named the most expensive in the world.
