Penza, 23 July 2016. PenzaNews. The awarding of the Penza region Tatars, who attained success in agriculture and other spheres, took place as part of the national end-of-sowing-season holiday Sabantuy in the pouring rain in the Sputnik-City on Saturday, July 23.

Certificates and badges of honor were presented for many years of diligent work and great contribution to the socio-economic development of the region and active participation in public work on preserving national traditions.

Addressing the gathered, the vice-governor of the Penza region Valery Savin stressed that Sabantuy became patrimony of all nations living in Russia.

“Both in Penza and in the Penza region, we celebrate this holiday with big love,” he said.

Valery Savin added that representatives of the Tatar nation from all over the Penza region came to the holiday celebration to present results of their work.

According to Valery Lidin, chairman of the Penza region Legislative Assembly, this holiday differs from other ones because all the nationalities, living in the region, celebrate it together with the Tatars.

“It has become really nation-wide. I would like to warmly congratulate all the rural workers who laid a good foundation for the future harvest, which is already yielding fruit,” he added.

A delegation from the Laishevsky municipal area of Tatarstan also came to celebrate Sabantuy. Its head Mikhail Afanasyev presented Valery Savin a choba and a tyubeteyka, which he put on right away, and a large dish with chak-chak.

Then, there was a great concert of the Penza region and Tatarstan bands, and some sports competitions.

There was arranged an exhibition-fair on the embankment of Sputnik – handmade jewelry, national clothes, cane furniture, woodwork, and toys, people could also taste dishes of the Tatar cuisine.
