The current – sixth – expedition will be composed of members from regional branches of the Russian War Scavenging Movement and Poisk-Vezdekhod organizations, as well as a war artifact scavenging group from “Penzaenergo” (“MRSK Volga”).

Overall, 26 scavengers will be taking part in the expedition.

The event is a part of the “Memory Vigil” social project.

This year’s expedition will be visiting the Zhlobinsk area of the Gomel region in Belarus, where Soviet general major Nikolai Prischepa, commander of the 61st Rifle Division, gave his life in a heroic struggle with the opposing forces. The Penza team plans to add a memorial plaque with his name to the bed of honor in the town of Buda-Koshelevo, Belarus.

Moreover, the war artifact scavengers plan find the medal “For Battle Merit” No. 603, which belonged to Vasily Murashkin of the Nizhny Lomov area in the Penza region, and give it back to his heirs, says the press service of the regional government.
