Penza, 17 August 2016. PenzaNews. The average amount of bribes in the Penza region, according to prosecutors, amounted to 34,600 rubles in the first half of 2016.

As the senior assistant of the head of the regional prosecutor for media relations Svetlana Artamonova told PenzaNews, in first half 2015 the average amount of bribes was 24 thousand rubles.

“Within six months of this year 100 corruption-related crimes were revealed, among which are facts of fraud, embezzlement, commercial bribery, giving and receiving bribes, misuse and abuse of power committed from mercenary interests,” the agency interlocutor explained.

According to her, among the above mentioned incidents there are 17 facts of receiving bribes, 17 facts of giving bribes, and one fact of mediation in bribery.

“79 criminal cases on corruption were sent to court. 82 persons were brought to responsibility. The crimes of corruption were committed in the areas of local government, health, education and housing,” Svetlana Artamonova added.

She said that the criminal charges are brought against eight police officers for committing fraud, misuse and abuse of power, taking bribes.

“The size of corruption crimes caused damage amounted to 18,183 thousand rubles. The pre-trial stage of criminal proceedings prompted voluntary compensation of the damage in the amount of 15,926 thousand rubles,” the senior assistant prosecutor said.
