Penza, 23 January 2015. PenzaNews. The project titled “Root for ours!” will begin in the Penza region before the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

According to Artur Panteleev, first deputy chairman of the regional physical education and sports committee, the project includes the plans to create a subsection on the committee's website dedicated to 30 Penza athletes who will potentially take part in the Olympics.

The visitors will be able to read their biographies, learn more about their personal achievements, and leave comments.

“Love and support of compatriots is vital for every sportsman. I believe it will help them show their best on the Olympics. Besides, of course, the citizens of the region must know the faces of their heroes,” Artur Panteleev said during a visiting session of the regional government in the Belinsky area on Thursday, January 22.

As the press service of the Penza region government informed PenzaNews agency, local athletes earned 63 gold, 43 silver and 50 bronze awards on official Russian and international competitions within the program of the Olympics, and also set one world record, three Russian records and six junior Russian records.
