6 May 2011. PenzaNews. The death of the former leader of terrorist organization "Al-Qaeda" Osama Bin Laden who was killed during the special-forces raid in Pakistan, is important for the USA in every way. Such opinion in the interview with the news agency "PenzaNews" was expressed by the Program Director for Russia/Eurasia, German Council on Foreign Relations, Berlin Alexander Rahr.

He said: "Firstly, the Americans have revenged the main terrorist for the attack of September, 11, 2001. Secondly, the rating of president Obama has risen now. Unlike Bush, Obama is doing alright. Thirdly, the Americans can leave Afghanistan. Their mission is fulfilled. The American nation sees that the result is achieved, Bin Laden is killed. For what reason do the American soldiers have to stay in Afghanistan? After all they spent there a long time — 10 years, because there was no result. If they simply left the territory, it would reasonably appear a question to America: "And what were they doing there all 10 years?", after all it is impossible to create a democracy there".

Answering the question whether there can be aggravation in the relations between the USA and the Arabian world, Alexander Rahr said that no problems would arise with the country leaders of the Near East.

He said: "Supervising and ruling elite keeps the power in the Arabian countries thanks to the Americans, therefore it is unprofitable for them to quarrel with the USA. However it is hard to predict what will occur in the Islamic circles. There can appear the problems as Osama Bin Laden is a symbol of struggle of the Islamistes against America till now".

Alexander Rahr underlined that the USA went the same way as Russia in its fight against terrorism, taking into account that Russia liquidated the militants in the North Caucasus.

He said: "Both Russia and the USA actively struggle with terrorism. But I am surprised with the triumph concerning Bin Laden's death who was shot armless. When Russia liquidated Basayev, nobody congratulated it. On the contrary, many people were against such methods of struggle with the terrorism".

Speaking about the future of "Al-Qaeda" after Osama Bin Laden, Alexander Rahr said that "this organization is capable to do more harm to the West and to Russia".

He said: "Al-Qaeda" is really an embodiment of the extremist ideology. I would even tell you that it has no relation to Islam. It uses Islam to be at war, to be engaged in massacre. Such terrorist groups are able to organize themselves. I think that throughout 10–20 years it will still threaten us, and, God forbid, it will seize the power somewhere. In Pakistan, for example. It won't be good for all of us".
