Penza, 14 January 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza region plans to increase the production volume of protected-ground vegetables up to 11,000 tons in 2016.

In the past year, the commodity sector produced over 10,300 tons of protected-ground vegetables, including cucumbers and tomatoes, the press service of the regional Agriculture Ministry informed PenzaNews agency.

“Currently, the companies involved in this kind of vegetable production in the region are ‘Penza Greenhouse Plant’ and ‘Biotekhnologii.’ Moreover, the family-operated farm of Dmitry Gribakov in the Shemysheika area is also producing lettuce and other greengroceries. There are a total of 28.63 hectares of winter greenhouses in the Penza region. Moreover, the agricultural organizations and family-operated farms are developing greenhouse farming through spring greenhouses, the total area of which reached 23.75 hectares in 2015,” the officials explained.

According to the press service, the Penza region government is actively working to select potential investors for projects to create state-of-the-art greenhouse complexes specialized on vegetable and greengrocery production.
