2 million tons of sugar beet harvested in Penza region

According to the Minister of Agriculture of the region Andrei Burlakov, it is a great achievement to the agro-industrial complex of the region.
“The Penza region is in the leading positions among the regions of the Volga Federal District, occupying the second place in gross harvest of sugar beet. The average harvesting capacity of the crop in the region is 397 centners per hectare,” he noted.
As the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture told PenzaNews, among the areas of the Penza region the highest productivity – 471 centners per hectare - is in Issinsky area.
“In Bekovsky area, the harvesting capacity is 470 centners per hectare. Among the farm units of the region, the leader is the peasant farm “Rodnik” of Spassky area with harvesting capacity of 650 centners per hectare,” the department added.
