"Spring wheat occupies the area of 1,800 hectares, barley – 5,500 hectares, oat – 3,700 hectares," he said at the meeting of the regional government that was held on Wednesday, April 26.

Andrei Burlakov added that industrial crops occupy the territory of 8,580 hectares.

"Sugar beet was sown at the area of 7,680 hectares, spring rape – 900 hectares," the minister specified.

As it was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Penza region, before seasonal field works started, specialists in closely related industries and workers of the departmental branches conducted work meetings with farmers on the issues of agriculture development, sowing, state support and introduction of agricultural land not in use.
