Penza farmers produce 102,000 tons of livestock and poultry over five months

Penza, 10 June 2017. PenzaNews. Over 102,000 tons of livestock and poultry for slaughter were produced by large, medium, and small agricultural enterprises of the Penza region from January to May 2017.

In May 2017, the performance equalled to 22,300 tons, which is higher than that of the previous year.

Gross milk yield increased as well: in May – by 3.1% – to 14,300 tons, over five months – by 3.6% – to 64,700 tons.

Gross milk yield per one cow from January to May 2017 amounted to 2.3 tons, which is by 7.8% more than the result of the analogous period of 2016.

According to the results of the five months, the Penza region produced 74.9 million hen's eggs. The performance indicator is by 5.5% higher than that of the previous year.

The average egg production of a laying hen in May amounted to 22 eggs, which is more than the indicator of the year 2016 by 4.8%, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reports.
