Penza farmers grind 1.7 million tons of grain

Penza, 29 August 2017. PenzaNews. Penza region farmers ground 1,706,000 tons of grain. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

"Grain and leguminous crops from the area of 449,000 hectares were ground. An average yield of the crops in the region equals to over 38 centners per hectare," the department specified.

The ministry noted that over 100,000 tons of grain were received by agricultural enterprises located in Kamensky, Bashmakovsky, Belinsky, Penzensky, and Tamalinsky areas.

"Farmers of the Kamensky area started to harvest sugar beet. The crop was harvested from the area of 773 hectares. The gross harvest equals to 23,000 tons, the crop capacity – 297 centners per hectare," the Ministry of Agriculture added.
