Penza region occupies 8th place in Russia by sugar beet yield

Penza, 10 November 2017. PenzaNews. The Penza region occupies the eighth position among regions of Russia by the gross sugar beet yield. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

Among constituent entities of the Volga Federal District, the Penza region is on the second position by the yield and crop capacity of the sugar beet. The first place is occupied by Tatarstan.

By the present time, 2,023,000 tons of the crop have been harvested in the Penza region, which makes up 85% of the total volume. The average yield in the region is 399 centners per hectare.

155,000 tons of sugar have been produced, which is 10,000 tons more than in 2016.
