Record yield of sugar beet harvested in Penza region

Penza, 13 November 2017. PenzaNews. 2,087,000 tons of sugar beet were harvested in the Penza region, which is a record crop yield result in the history of the region.

As the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture told PenzaNews, the highest result was registered in the Kamensky and Bashmakovsky areas – 440,800 and 404,600 tons respectively.
The average yield of the sugar beet in the region equals to 399 centners per hectare," the department specified.
The press service explained that the yield leaders are farms of the Kolysheysky area with an average result of 495 centners per hectare, the Pachelmsky area – 486 centners per hectare, and the Bekovsky area – 434 centners per hectare.
According to data as of November 10, the Penza region occupies the eighth place among regions of Russia on the gross collection of sugar beets. Among constituent entities of the Volga Federal District the Penza region is on the second position by the yield and crop capacity of the sugar beet. The first place is occupied by Tatarstan.
