Penza, 13 January 2018. PenzaNews. 300,000 tons of white sugar was produced in the Penza region by three sugar plants, which operate in the Kamensky, Zemetchinsky and Bekovsky areas. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

"As of January 12, the sugar plants harvested 2.4 million tons of sugar beet in physical weight. Compared to an analogous period of the previous year, the result is 400,000 tons higher," the department noted.

The press service reminded that in the current year 2.4 million tons of sugar beet was received in the Penza region at a yield of 398 centners per hectare.

"The region occupies the second place in the Volga Federal District by the gross harvest and yield of sugar beet," the Ministry of Agriculture of the region specified.
