Penza, 6 June 2018. PenzaNews. The Penza region became the leader among constituent entities of the Volga Federal District on the volume of meat production from January to April 2018 with the result of 16,600 tons. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the region.

According to the department, the region also occupied the first position in VFD on the growth of milk yield with the result of 121.4% and the second position – on milk yield per cow in agricultural organizations: the production performance amounted to 2,175 kg.

In addition, the Penza region showed the second result in the district on the growth of cattle and poultry production for slaughter in live weight in farms of all categories – 111.4%.

Moreover, the region occupied the third place in the Volga Federal District on turnover of organizations in the field of agriculture, hunting and forestry with the result of 14.5 billion roubles, which is 13.5% higher than what was achieved over the same period in 2017.

The region is also located at the third position on the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter with a volume of 99,000 tons and on the growth of the total number of pigs – 103%.
