Cherkizovo estimates losses caused by avian influenza in Penza region at 100 million roubles

Penza, 22 June 2018. PenzaNews. The losses of the poultry farm Vasilyevskaya (a member of Cherkizovo Group) caused by highly pathogenic avian influenza found in the centre of the Vernutovsky parent stock in the village of Sakhzavod of the Penza region are estimated at 100 million roubles. This was reported by Interfax with reference to data of the food company.

According to the provided information, the virus was discovered in an isolated territory designed exclusively for reproduction of parent flock and production of hatching eggs. It is located 200 km away from the main facilities for the production of broiler chickens and their processing.
To date, the centre of the infection was localized and eliminated.
No disease was identified at other sites, they operate in a standard mode.
However, given the unfavourable epizootic situation in the region at all sites, the company introduced additional biosecurity measures.
Operational headquarters controlling the situation and conducting internal investigation, which aims to establish how the infection had penetrated from external environment, was established in Cherkizovo.
As it was reported before, restrictive measures in connection with the highly pathogenic avian influenza were introduced in the Penza region in five territories of Kolyshleysky, Lopatinsky, and Bekovsky areas.
