Penza, 30 April 2019. PenzaNews. Farmers of the Penza region fulfilled the plan for spring sowing by more than 50%. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the latest information of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, the Penza region occupies the first position by the area of spring sowing among the constituent entities of the Volga Federal District. By the reporting date, agricultural producers of the Penza region sowed an area of 456,100 hectares," the ministry explained.

The press service added that the region occupied the second place in the Volga Federal District by the pace of spring sowing yielding to Mordovia.

"Sowing of sugar beet finishes in the Penza region. As of the reporting date, sugar beet crops occupied an area of 56,400 hectares in the region, which is 87% of the plan. [...] Sunflower was sown on an area of more than 94,000 hectares," the department said.
