Penza, 17 September 2019. PenzaNews. Over 420,000 tons of the sugar beetroot with the expected yield of more than 2 million tons was harvested in Penza region according to the latest data. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

The department specified that the average yield was 374 centners per hectare.

The Ministry added that the gross harvest of the sunflower amounted to more than 65,000 tons with an average yield of 20 tons per hectare, whereas that of the soybean equalled 27,300 tons with an average yield of 15 tons per hectare.

"Farmers of the region received about 23,000 tons of flax, the average yield was 10 centners per hectare," the press service explained.

The Ministry of Agriculture noted that in 2019 technical crops would be removed in the Penza region from the area of almost 396,000 hectares.
