450,000 tons of sunflowers harvested in Penza region

Penza, 29 October 2019. PenzaNews. Farmers of Penza region harvested 450,000 tons of sunflowers, which is the highest yield in the history of the region. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

The average yield is 21 centners per hectare," the department specified.

The press service explained that altogether the agricultural producers intended to receive 500,000 tons of sunflowers in 2019.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Penza region, in 2018, the volume of sunflower production in the initially recorded weight amounted to about 437,000 tons, and in Soviet times the gross yield did not exceed 36,000 tons.
